Striated Landscape
Striated Landscape explores the relationship between the landscape and abstraction. When the landscape is deconstructed through careful framing and the utilization of photography’s compression of space the effect is fragmenting. This fragmentation allows for the scene to take on a nonrepresentational feeling. Through this nonrepresentational influence the landscape loses it horizontal history and with the introduction of the vertical frame it becomes increasingly confrontational of the very nature of what is being displayed.
